Superintendent

I am excited to welcome all of you to the 2022-23 school year at Hawkins ISD.   As I begin my 39th year as an educator and my 2nd year as Superintendent of this outstanding school district, I cannot help but reflect on the many changes that have taken place in public schools across the state and nation.

The resilience of our students, teachers, administrators and staff has been nothing short of amazing.   We have weathered the COVID pandemic, changes to the structure of educational practices, and currently, the challenges of providing the safest environment possible for our HISD family.  Yet, I can say without hesitation that our school has met these challenges head on with tenacity that has allowed our students to be resourceful and successful in this ever-changing world.  I cannot tell you how proud I am to be a HAWK!

Our district theme this year is “Rising to the Challenge”.   I am excited to say that our Hawk Family has worked tirelessly to prepare for another successful and rewarding school year.  In addition to a solid academic foundation, Hawkins ISD offers students leadership opportunities through our robust STEAM program,  our many athletic programs, band, cheerleading, FFA, robotics and other extracurricular and cocurricular programs.

I am proud to say that Hawkins ISD strives to educate and foster growth for  the “Whole Child”.  School and community working together is what it is all about!

It’s a great day to be a HAWK!   Exciting things lie ahead in HISD.   I’m proud and honored to lead the way!

Sincerely,

Susan Morton, Superintendent
