 Superintendent's Message

Children are a community’s most precious treasure. At Hawkins ISD, we believe that all children deserve a safe and loving place where each child is encouraged to grow to their full potential. An individualized approach to teaching addresses the unique needs of each student and helps the students to progress along their chosen pathway. The HISD staff strives to instill a sense of grit and perseverance through the implementation of a growth mindset philosophy that provides students with a toolbox for success regardless of their chosen path.

Hawkins ISD is a 2A school district that serves part of Holly Lake Ranch and Lake Hawkins in addition to the city itself. The district was established in December of 1940 and has served Hawkins ever since. Two bond elections in the past 10 years brought multiple improvements to the schools including a newly-constructed high school gymnasium, dining facilities, elementary science labs, and an athletic field house, as well as major renovations to the auditorium and baseball/softball fields. The renovated auditorium, which accommodates more than 600 guests, hosts performances by the Roarin’ Soarin’ Blue Hawk Band and the award-winning Black Rose Players.

Hawkins ISD has a commitment to creating students who will be college and career ready upon graduation, with skills that allow them to be prepared in a world with an ever-changing future. Upgraded networking and digital devices provide students with the most up-to-date tools with which to learn and grow. Students explore and discover under the capable leadership of first-rate classroom teachers and staff members.

Robust CTE and dual credit opportunities with Tyler Junior College, Texas State Technical College, and Jarvis Christian College allow students multiple pathways to successful future careers. More than 90% of Hawkins High School students graduate with the foundation program and an endorsement or distinction.
Students may leave HHS with approximately 30 college hours on their transcript.

Hawkins ISD believes in meeting students where they are, cultivating their unique talents and interests, and growing them to realize their full potential. Students leave HISD armed with knowledge and skills necessary for them to continue growing as individual learners so that they create a successful future for themselves and society in an ever-changing world.
