Curriculum and Instruction
Welcome to the Hawkins ISD Curriculum and Instruction Department
At Hawkins ISD, we are committed to providing all students with a comprehensive and well-rounded education by equipping teachers with a high-quality aligned curriculum, research-based instructional practices, and data-informed support. The Curriculum & Instruction Department partners with educators to deliver engaging learning experiences that are fully aligned to the state standards, meeting the diverse needs of our students.
Grounded in data-driven instruction, we support campuses to analyze student learning, identify strengths and needs, and ensure instructional decisions are purposeful and impactful. By using data to guide our practices, we help create clear pathways for academic growth and student success.
We are dedicated to strengthening instruction, supporting innovative teaching, and fostering meaningful learning opportunities for every student.

Occasionally, students demonstrate an educational need based on data (such as STAAR, state/district assessments, and previous school records) to be considered for a course or grade-level advancement. Students have the opportunity to be assessed through a Credit By Exam (CBE) process once per year if they show an educational need or by parent request.
If a parent feels a CBE opportunity is in their child's best interest, they must discuss this with the campus counselor and/or administrators. After this, the parent/guardian should complete the Hawkins ISD Credit by Exam Registration Form for Acceleration by the specified registration deadline.
Hawkins ISD utilizes Texas Tech's CBEs. When a CBE is requested, the assessment is administered by district personnel within the specified assessment windows. These assessments are scored by Texas Tech and the score results are returned to the district. Texas Tech K-12 review sheets are available if needed.
If you have previously met with the campus school counselor and/or campus administrator, you can register for a CBE at the below link:

-
View and review the proposed library book purchase lists for 30 days after the HISD Board of Trustees has been notified.
-
Parents or guardians may submit concerns or feedback about any book under consideration by emailing or providing a written report to the campus principal.
-
After the 30-day review period, if no parent or guardian concerns have been submitted, the Board of Trustees will vote to approve the purchase of the listed books.
